Rail car derails on Kalka-Shimla section

Solan. A major accident was averted when a rail car suddenly derailed near Barog railway station on World Heritage Kalka-Shimla section ,on Thursday morning.
The rail car carrying nine passengers that was stated to be running on little high speed shortly after its derailment stopped after some distance and did not overturn. This saved the lives of the passengers in the Rail car.
Meanwhile, the authorities of northern railway have suspended the movement of all Up, and Down trains till the clearance of the railway line.
The accident stated to be took place at around 7.45 am, shortly after the car started its journey from Kumharhatti to Shimla.
According to the information, the rail car going from Kalka to Shimla was moving from Kumharhatti station to Barog station when it derailed between the two stations near Barog tunnel. This caused panic amongst the passengers traveling in the Rail car.
A total of nine passengers were traveling in the rail motor car, out of its full capacity of 15 seats.
The railway officials has initimated the senior officials in Shimla and Ambala. The investigation will start only after the officials reach at the site of mishap to ascertain the cause of the accident.
Soon after the mishap, railway officials have made arrangements to send the passengers to Shimla after reaching Barog railway station. This rail car has been running on the heritage track for a long time. It runs daily from Kalka to Shimla at 5 am. Tourists pay more attention to travel in this rail car. Apart from this, local people also use the trains to reach Shimla and other stations, situated on the track.
