Governor visits Research Institute in Indian System of Medicine at Jogindernagar
Mandi. Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar visited Research Institute in Indian System of Medicine at Jogindernagar in Mandi District today. On the occasion, the Governor said that traditional medicinal plants were being made useful on the basis of modern technology at the centre. Medicinal products were being well documented and research was being done to preserve our traditional products. He stressed on the need to make more efforts in this direction. Later, the Governor also visited drug testing lab, herbal garden and herbarium. He also planted sapling of camphor plant in the premises. On the occasion, Ujjawal Deep Sharma, Project Officer cum Incharge, RIISOM gave Power Point presentation on the activities of the Institute. He also briefed about the development of Herbal Gardens and major medicinal plants of Himachal Pradesh. He also apprised the Governor about medicinal plants including herad, malkangni, chandan, neem etc. grown in sub-tropical areas which have higher demands in the country.
Dr. Arun Chandan, Regional Director, National Medicinal Plant Board, Ministry of Ayush also briefed about Board.Vipin Sharma, Incharge, Drug Testing Lab also detailed about activities through power point presentation.Local MLA Prakash Rana, Deputy Commissioner, Mandi Arindam Chaudhary, Superintendent of Police Shalini Agnihotri, officers of the Institute were also present on the occasion. Later, the Governor also visited Government Ayurvedic Pharmacy at Jogindernagar.
